Loyalty Program Spotlight- Airlines based in Asia

Last week, Asian Airlines dominated the Skytrax World Alliance Awards. Six out of the top ten world’s best airlines are based in Asia. Asiana, Singapore, Cathay Pacific, and ANA All Nippon Airways were the top four, and given the recent accolades these airlines received, we thought it would be a good idea to briefly describe each airline’s loyalty programs if you are interested in flying with the top airlines in the world.

Asiana Airlines is a Star Alliance member and its loyalty program is known as Asiana Club. The program has five membership tiers: Silver, Gold, Diamond, Diamond Plus and Platinum membership. The more you accumulate miles with the program, the higher your membership tier; which means more benefits for you! You can earn and redeem miles through its air, hotel, and shopping partners. Benefits include access to its membership lounge, being on a priority wait list, priority boarding, upgrades and free flights. The airline won “Best Airline in Asia” award as well as the “Best Economy Class Airline Seat”.

Singapore Airlines is also a Star Alliance member and its loyalty program is known as KrisFlyer. KrisFlyer members, depending on their status, can receive benefits such as priority airport standby, increased check-in baggage allowance, priority airport check-in, lounge access, priority boarding, and priority baggage handling. KrisFlyer Elite Gold is the highest membership tier and members get access to not only Singapore’s airport lounges but also to any Star Alliance Gold lounges worldwide, as well as Virgin Australia’s lounges in Australia. Similar to other airlines, miles earned on Singapore Air can be used for upgrades, ticket purchases, and with other partners. Singapore Airlines won “World’s Best Economy Class” and “Best Economy Class Onboard Catering,” which means you not only will be comfortable, but the usually distasteful airline food will actually be pretty good!

Cathay Pacific‘s loyalty program is the Marco Polo Club, where members receive benefits such as extra legroom seats, guaranteed seating, extra baggage allowance, lounge access, as well as personalized luggage name tags, priority boarding, and access to exclusive promotions and offers. Miles earned with the airline can be used with any of its Oneworld Alliance partners for upgrades and ticket purchases. The airline won “World’s Best Business Class” last week and it’s not hard to see why. The airline’s new business class features both privacy and openness. Business class flyers receive a full flat bed, a side storage compartment, a multi-port connector to connect various electronic devices and a 15.4 inch video screen.

ANA All Nippon Airways frequent flyer club ANA Mileage Club allows members to earn and redeem miles on several ANA partner airlines including Star Alliance members. Something not often seen with airline loyalty programs is that ANA Mileage members can have a family account, which allows members to manage and combine the miles earned by their family. Amenities for the airline’s flyers are quite unique from most airlines. Amenities include air weave mattresses, pajamas, foot rollers, and postcards. ANA All Nippon Airways won the “Best Airline Transpacific” title at the awards.

These Asian airlines definitely know how to please their customers with luxurious top notch service no matter which class you’re flying. Be sure to add these programs to your UsingMiles dashboard to keep track of all your miles and to take full advantage of all the benefits these programs have to offer.
