Which Loyalty Program Gives You the Best Value?

With all the frequent flier and hotel points programs available, how do you determine which loyalty program provides you with the best value?

Since rewards are usually given in points or miles, it can be difficult to figure out the real value of the rewards you earn. To help simplify things, NextAdvisor researched some of the top travel reward programs from major airlines and hotels.

Topping the list was Starwood Preferred Guest:

Starwood Preferred Guest® Starpoints offer more value than the other programs we looked at. Their worth of $.021 per point for hotel stay redemption is the highest point value we found in our study.  While their value for flight redemption was a bit lower at $.012 per point, we’d note it is still higher than some airline rewards cards.

Southwest Rapid Rewards came in second overall, with a flight redemption of $0.017 per point. Also, Southwest publishes the point conversion ratios on their site, and the reviewers found Southwest’s claims to be true in real-life scenarios.

The list continues with United MileagePlus, American Airlines AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, Continental Airlines OnePass, Marriott Rewards and Hilton HHonors.
